Reasons why I want to attend AMU Literary Festival | Afreen Fatima

Afreen Fatima | February 20, 2017

For the past two years now, Aligarh Muslim University’s Debating and Literary Club (UDLC) has been hosting a festival to celebrate literature and the magic that it has to offer. UDLC is back with the third edition of the Literary Festival, scheduled to be held on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of March, 2017. It is the only literary festival in India that is solely organized by the students of the University. Here, I have listed a few points of why I am excited to attend AMU Lit Fest 3.0.

1. Success of the previous two Lit Fests:The previous Lit Fest has overwhelmed all those who attended it. The Guests, Panelists gave amazing remarks about the Fest and were very happy to have attended it.

2. Listen to and engage with leading personalities in the field: AMU’s UDLC strives to gather the most powerful voices for being a part and to speak in the fest. It is always breathtaking to hear someone live. Listening to someone who everyone wants to listen to is by far very stunningly beautiful.

3. It supports writers and offers a unique way to develop as a writer: Workshops are organized to enhance writing skills. You get to meet and talk to leading authors of the nation, hearing about great writing and talking with writers inspires your work obviously.

4. Learn what topics/books/issues are inspiring young minds: Students from different leading universities participate and attend the fest. It gives a peep into their minds, college life and what they think. It is a great place to engage in helpful discussions.

5. It will be a great place to get connected: Reading is a solitary task. Me being a person who is not surrounded by folks with similar tastes and interests. This festival will be a great place to meet kindred spirits.

6. It will be a great place to spark a change: AMU Lit Fest is a place to speak with people who have contributed so much to the field of literature. Talking about how literature has changed through the course of time. And also promote Indian Literature.

7. It gives a platform: A platform to speak up, to discuss, to attempt. To talk about real life challenges. To keep digging and reading and writing.I have put together seven reasons of “why I wish to be a part of AMU Lit Fest 3.0”. I call out to all the people who read, write and love literature.Save the dates because this is the place to be. I hope it would be as grand and successful as the previous editions. You might not be the same person who walked in for literature has its own charm and magic. It lifts the soul up with just a few simple words.
